Jubillee College

This is the school opened in 1840 by the first Episcopal Bishop of Illinois, Philander Chase. Chase's college included a theological department, college for men, boys preparatory school, and girls school. It was one of the first American colleges established in Illinois. The two-story Gothic Revival building that once housed the college chapel, classrooms, and a dormitory has been restored. Today, it is the centerpiece of a 90-acre state historic site managed by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
